Our annual trip to the Philadelphia Flower Show now includes an extra day to discover Philadelphia.
The Philadelphia Flower is the world’s oldest and largest indoor flower show, attracting more than 260,000 people annually. The show features large-scale gardens, elaborate landscapes, and over-the-top floral creations. Visitors to the PHS Philadelphia Flower Show are treated to fabulous design, live entertainment, gardening how-to workshops and lectures by experts. During your stay you will also visit Longwood Gardens. Longwood Gardens is one of the world’s premier horticultural destinations. In spring, we experience the dazzling world of orchids as the Conservatory is transformed into a lush oasis showcasing the divas of the plant world. Longwood’s Conservatory is one of the world’s great greenhouse structures. It shelters 20 indoor gardens and 5,500 types of plants. We also allow plenty of time to stroll the outside gardens (over 1,000 acres) and tour the DuPont House.
A trip to Philadelphia would not be complete unless you talked about ART.
The centrepiece of any art tour to Philadelphia is a visit to the magnificent Barnes Foundation. The Barnes Foundation houses one of the most important private art collections in the world. 181 Renoirs, 69 Cezannes, 46 Picassos, 59 Matisse, 21 Soutines, as well as innumerable Impressionist and Post-Impressionist works adorn its walls. It has been estimated that the Barnes collection is worth as much as 30 billion dollars. This astounding collection is considered to be arguably the best in the world.
An optional visit to the Philadelphia Museum of Art will also be available.
To complete your discovery of Philadelphia, Travac is including a guided walking tour of the Historic District.
