Travac Tours is pleased to announce that it will be offering a special program to see “Come From Away”, the award winning musical about Newfoundland’s generosity during the 9/11 crisis. The Shaw Festival will be featuring “Grand Hotel” on our June 11 departure and “The Magician’s Nephew’’ on our June 18th departure.
“Come from Away” is a Canadian story that literally moved the world. It is opening to the biggest advance ticket sales in Canadian theatre history. In fact, most spring and summer dates are sold.
Kelly Nestruck of The Globe and Mail wrote of “Come From Away” that “the heartwarming musical lives up to the hype” and that “the accessible story, strong emotional core and gorgeous songwriting should not distract from how original and smart this gem of a musical is”. Robert Cushman of the National Post called the production “outstanding.” Liz Braun of the Toronto Sun gave the show a perfect 5-star review.
“Grand Hotel” is the story of the lavish Grand Hotel where the lives of ten hotel guests collide over one unforgettable night. Love, betrayal, jealousy, murder and the glamour of Berlin in the Roaring Twenties are the backdrop to the story. Soaring with songs and dance, it’s the mesmerizing musical about what happens when our deepest, most desperate passions are unleashed. Winner of five Tony Awards.
“The Magicians Nephew” is a world premier! Here you will take a magical, spectacular plunge into Narnia … at its very beginning. Young Digory and his friend Polly stumble on a way to explore other worlds — but accidentally unleash a malevolent queen who could destroy every world. Packed with visual thrills and wonders, this adventure is a profound story of what it means to do the right thing. Inspiring for all ages.
