Day 1

This morning you will depart Ottawa for your trip to New York. You will be overnighting in Manhattan before starting your cruise. You will pack an overnight bag for night as your large checked bag will stay on the coach.


Day 2

This morning the magic begins with a guided tour of New York City. Your local tour guide, a knowledgeable New Yorker, will take you through the city giving you a chance to see some of the fabulous sites that have made this city a cosmopolitan gem. After the tour you’ll be taken to the port for embarkation. Your ship, the Norwegian Escape, sails today at 3:00pm.


Day 3

Leisurely spent at sea

There are plenty of activities aboard the Norwegian Escape to entertain everyone or simply relax and enjoy your surroundings.

Day 5

San Juan, Puerto Rico

This morning you arrive in San Juan. Founded in 1521 San Juan’s picturesque cobblestone streets, plazas and churches reflect its Spanish heritage. This, the second oldest city in the Americas, boasts fine beaches, lush rainforests, green mountainsides and an imposing fortress.


Day 6

Philipsburg, St Maarten

With an area of only 37 square miles, the island of St. Maarten is the smallest landmass in the world divided between two governments. The southern Dutch half offers casinos, duty free shopping and a unique island culture. The French half offers a subdued sophistication that is also attractive to tourists.


Day 7

Tortola, British Virgin Islands

Tortola is the largest and most populated of the British Virgin Islands.  Here you will be able to swim or stroll the white-sand beaches, explore ancient ruins or try the delectable local cuisine.  Shopping is also a big part of life in Tortola.


Day 8

St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands

The town of Charlotte Amalie in the Virgin Islands has one of the most breathtaking harbours in the world. Once home to pirates, today’s visitors find treasures of a different kind. Duty free shopping and beautiful beaches are now the claim to fame of this island paradise.


Day 9

Roseau, Dominica

Roseau is the capital of Dominica.  The older section of this small town of about 20,000 inhabitants makes for a wonderful walking tour as there are many Victorian building still in place.  The Botanical Gardens in Roseau are also worth a visit.


Day 10

Castries, St. Lucia

A mecca for outdoor enthusiasts with thriving coral reefs and rain forest preserves. Explore the world’s only drive-in volcanic crater at Sulfur Springs. Visit the Diamond Botanical Gardens and Falls and the Morne Coubaril Estate.


Day 11

Bridgetown, Barbados

The most British of all the Caribbean islands, games of cricket are as common here as the typical island water sports. Visit the third-oldest Parliament in the entire Commonwealth. Stroll the inviting beaches of Carlisle Bay, tour a rum factory, or visit the historical Garrison area. Bridgetown is the only city outside continental North America that George Washington visited. The George Washington House, where he stayed, is now part of the Garrison Historic Area.


Day 12

Basseterre, St. Kitts

Although founded by the French in 1627, St. Kitts is a very British paradise where cricket and tea are the norm. The dramatic mixed island landscape is rimmed in gold-sand beaches and dotted with well-preserved plantations left over from when the island was covered with sugar cane.


Day 13-15

Leisurely spent at sea.


Day 16

New York to Ottawa- This morning the Escape will arrive back in New York. After breakfast we will meet as a group and disembark the ship, where we will be met by our motor coach and begin your journey back to Ottawa, with a stop enroute for lunch. You can expect to arrive in Ottawa about 8:00 in the evening.

The charm of the traditional Austrian and Czech Christmas markets casts a magical and delightful spell on both tourists and locals alike. Join us on November 27 as we explore the fascination of these markets.

These centuries old Christmas markets are held in cities, towns and villages throughout both countries and are becoming increasingly popular, in part because they evoke memories of a time when commercialism was not the prime driver of the Christmas season.

Your Christmas market tour includes round trip transportation, 3 night’s accommodation in Vienna, 2 night’s accommodation in Salzburg, 3 night’s accommodation in Prague, breakfast daily, 2 dinners, sightseeing as per itinerary and the services of a Travac Tours Director. Day 1

Depart Ottawa from the VIA rail station by bus for your overnight flights to Vienna from Montreal.


Day 2

Vienna (3 nights)

Vienna’s magnetic charm is found on every corner during its colourful Christmas season. On the drive to our hotel you will have a chance to acclimatize yourself to your new vibrant surroundings. While rooms are generally not ready until the early afternoon, you will be able to check your bags at the hotel and enjoy a bit of free time in the heart of Vienna, possibly stopping at one of its world-renowned coffee houses for a sachertorte. After check in, the balance of your day will be at your leisure. Your tour director will be happy to make suggestions for dinner.


Day 3

Your sightseeing of Vienna will begin with a guided tour of this great metropolitan centre led by a professional local guide. You will have a chance to see Hofburg Palace, the official residence of the President of Austria and a former home of the Hapsburg Dynasty. You will also see the famous Opera House, one of the most beautiful in the world, St Stephen’s Cathedral and Schonbrunn Palace the summer home to the Hapsburgs. Vienna is considered to be one of the most livable cities in the world with its elegant boulevards, tree lined streets, a wonderful transportation system and great entertainment venues. Your afternoon will again be free to discover some of the cities incredible virtues. (B)


Day 4

From mid-November to Christmas, Vienna’s prettiest squares transform into magical Christmas markets. The aroma of Christmas bakery items and hot mulled wine creates a pre-Christmas atmosphere. It is a tradition that has been going on since 1294… a tradition that brings delight to the locals as well as attracting visitors from all over the world. This evening you will be off to the Vienna Woods for a special Viennese dinner. You will enjoy home-style cooking with top-rated Austrian wines in an idyllic ambiance. The estate of the restaurant, which dates back to the 12th century, will charm you with its cozy rooms, historic vaulted cellars and romantic garden. You’ll be entertained by wandering musicians passing from table to table during your dinner. (B, D)


Day 5

Salzburg (2 nights)

This morning you will depart Vienna and make your way south to the “post card” city of Salzburg. Here you can truly experience romance in Mozart’s birthplace. Salzburg’s “Old Town” is internationally renowned for its baroque architecture and is one of the best-preserved city centres north of the Alps. It was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997.Your tour of Salzburg this afternoon will focus on its many attributes. You will have a chance to visit some of the iconic sites made famous in “The Sound of Music.” Christmas is always in the air in Salzburg and you will enjoy shopping the many quaint shops that populate the old town. Day 6

Today you will have a leisurely chance to explore and discover the spirit of Salzburg. Join your host on an early morning walk. This captivating town has plenty of opportunities for a new adventure. If you like spend some time at the colourful Christmas market in the old town square. (B)


Day 7

Prague (3 nights)

Your journey continues as we drive into the Czech Republic for our stay in the stunning city of Prague. Along the way, we will stop in Cesky Krumlov, a UNESCO world heritage site. Situated on the banks of the Vltava River, the old town of Cesky Krumlov was built around a 13th-century castle with Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque elements. It is an outstanding example of a small central European medieval town whose architectural heritage has remained intact thanks to its peaceful evolution over more than five centuries. Over a million tourists visit each year to marvel at its uniqueness and its old town charm.In November-December, it is alight with the colours and sounds of the season. You will have ample time to explore this traffic- free wonderland before heading to Prague. (B)


Day 8

This morning you will join a local guide for a complete city tour of Prague. Your tour will start with a visit to the 1,000-year-old Prague Castle. The castle offers an amazing view of the old city. Your tour will also take you to the old town square, a hub of activity in the city since medieval times. Your afternoon is at leisure. Prague is somewhat famous for its music. We have included an evening concert as a great way to end your day. (B)


Day 9

One of Prague’s most famous sites is the Charles Bridge. No visit to Prague is complete without a walk across this incredible structure. It is also easy to lose yourself sightseeing in the cobblestone streets that are everywhere in the old town. Another option is to visit Prague’s version of the Eiffel tower. No matter what you choose to do with your free time the majesty of the city is always there. This evening you will have a chance to enjoy dinner with your fellow travelers. (B, D)

Your guide will advise you of your departure time for your return flights to Ottawa. (B)
