Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Ottawa to Calgary
Your journey begins. Today you will depart Ottawa for Calgary. Upon your arrival in Calgary you will be taken on a short tour of this picturesque city before arriving at your hotel. Your tour takes on a voyage feel from frontier times to the great oil boom. The balance of your day will be free.
Day 2: Calgary
Explore and shop the streets of Calgary on your own today. Your hotel concierge will be happy to offer suggestions of things to do today. There are lots of parks and museums for you to visit. (B)
Day 3: Calgary to Banff
This morning you will visit Calgary’s Heritage Park. Heritage Park is Canada’s largest living history museum, with hundreds of exhibits, rides, shops, restaurants, daily demonstrations and activities to keep you captivated.
After your visit to the park you will travel from Calgary to Banff and catch your first glimpse of the Rockies. Upon your arrival in Banff you will check into your hotel. The balance of your day will be free to explore Banff village and its fine artisan shops. (B, D)
Day 4: Banff
After breakfast, we will drive through Banff and visit the powerful Bow Falls and Hoodoos.
This afternoon you will make your way to the Sulphur Mountain gondola and ride to the summit of Banff’s Sulphur Mountain. While on the summit you are able to marvel at the unsurpassed view of Banff, the Bow Valley and a 360-degree view of six scenic mountain ranges that reach 2281m (7486ft) above sea level. You’ll feel like you’re on top of the world standing on the spacious main level observation deck. The balance of your day is free. (B)
Day 5: Banff to Jasper
This morning your journey north will take you along the extraordinary ice fields that are part of the landscape of this region. Your will witness beautiful waterfalls and rushing rivers. At the Columbia Icefields, you embark on the glacial adventure of a lifetime. Your tour takes you onto the surface of the Athabasca Glacier by Ice Explorer; a massive vehicle specially designed for glacial travel. An experienced driver-guide shares a wealth of fascinating information about glaciers, icefields and their impact on our environment during this one hour and 20-minute experience. After your icefield adventure, you continue north with a stop at Athabasca Falls before arriving at Jasper. (B)
Day 6: Jasper
Your holiday will continue with a visit of Maligne Lake one of the most beautiful and iconic lakes in the Rockies. Maligne Lake is the largest glacially formed and fed lake in the Canadian Rockies and those remnants of the last Ice Age still cling to the cliffs. You will enjoy a fabulous cruise on the lake before returning to Jasper. Your afternoon in Jasper is free to enjoy on your own. (B)
Day 7: Jasper to Edmonton
Leaving Jasper, we will begin our journey to Edmonton. Edmonton is a wonderful town and capital of Alberta that offers a host of outdoor activities and great shopping. It is also listed as one of the top 10 cities to visit by National Geographic, simply because it is so unique. Travac’s visit to Edmonton will include a stop at the West Edmonton Mall, where you will have plenty of time to enjoy this spectacular facility. (B)
Day 8: Edmonton
Today you are completely free to enjoy Edmonton. It will be your chance to visit some of the museums and parks that make up the fabric of this wonderful city. (B)
Day 9
Depart for Ottawa. Your Travac Tour Director will advise you of your departure time from the hotel. (B)
